Short version: NKY Home Service cleans gutters across Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties. We clear gutters and downspouts by hand, flush them, inspect for damage, and haul the debris away. Twice a year is right for most homes here. Free quotes, call or text (859) 363-5562.

The downspout is the part that matters

Anyone can scoop leaves out of a gutter. If the downspout is packed, the water still has nowhere to go and you'll be looking at the same overflow in the next storm.

So we clear the run by hand, flush the whole system, and stand at the bottom to confirm water is actually coming out. If a downspout is blocked solid we clear it from below. It's a small thing and it's the difference between a gutter that's clean and a gutter that works.

What's included

  • Hand-clearing every run of gutter
  • Flushing gutters and downspouts, and confirming flow at the outlet
  • A look at hangers, seams, pitch and fascia while we're on the ladder
  • Debris bagged and removed, not dumped in your beds
  • A straight report on anything we found, with a quote if it needs a repair

What clogged gutters actually cost

Water that comes over the front edge of a gutter lands in one spot against your foundation, over and over. That's the damage that gets expensive. Everything else follows from it: rotted fascia and soffit, stained siding, washed-out mulch beds, wet basements.

In winter it's worse. Standing water in a blocked gutter freezes, and the ice pushes meltwater back up under the bottom row of shingles. By the time you see the ceiling stain, the fix isn't a gutter cleaning anymore.

When to schedule

Late fall is the important one. Once the leaves are down and before the first hard freeze. This is the cleaning that prevents ice dams.

Spring catches everything that blew in over winter plus seed pods and early buds, and gets you ready for heavy spring rain.

If a storm just went through and you're seeing water pouring over the front edge, don't wait for the season. Call us.

What our customers say

★★★★★

We reached out to NKY Home Service for gutter cleaning and they were quick to respond and did the work for a very fair price. When new small twigs and leaves caused an issue several months later, they stopped by same day and unclogged it for free. These are kind people who do great work.

★★★★★

We had several small interior handyman projects and Chris did a great job with all of them. No job was too small, which is the case with some companies, and we really appreciated that. We'll be calling him again this Spring/Summer for our list of exterior projects.

Stephanie R.
★★★★★

Our new home settled and there was a significant crack in the seam that couldn't be covered with paint alone. Chris came and repaired the spots easily and quickly. He was timely and incredibly reasonable. You can't even see where the crack was. I can't recommend this contractor enough.

Straight answers

Gutter cleaning questions, answered straight

How often should I clean my gutters?

Twice a year for most homes here: once in late fall after the leaves are down, and once in spring. If you have mature trees close to the house, especially pines or maples, you'll want a third pass. Homes with almost no tree cover can often get by with one.

What happens if I don't clean them?

Water backs up over the edge and lands against your foundation. That's the expensive one. Before that you'll usually see rotting fascia board, stained siding, drowned landscaping, and in winter, ice dams that push water up under your shingles. A gutter cleaning costs a fraction of any single one of those repairs.

Do you clear the downspouts too?

Yes, and it is the part that actually matters. Clean gutters feeding a blocked downspout still overflow. We flush every downspout and confirm water is running out the bottom before we leave.

Do you check for damage while you are up there?

We do, and we'll tell you what we find. Loose hangers, separated seams, sagging sections, rotted fascia. Sometimes it's a five-minute fix we handle on the spot. Sometimes it's a real repair and we'll quote it. We're not going to invent problems, and we're not going to pretend we didn't see one.

Is it safe for my roof and gutters?

Yes. We work off ladders with standoffs so the ladder isn't resting on the gutter itself, which is how a lot of gutters get bent. We clear by hand and flush with water rather than power washing the inside, which can loosen seams.

Do you clean up the debris?

Yes. It leaves with us. You shouldn't find piles of wet leaves in your beds after we go.

Do you work on two and three story homes?

Yes. Let us know the height when you call so we bring the right equipment.

Can you do it while we are out of town?

Gutter cleaning is entirely exterior, so you don't need to be home at all. We'll text you when it's done.

Do you install gutter guards?

Ask us when we're out. Guards help with leaves but they aren't maintenance-free, and they're a bad fit for some roof and tree situations. We'd rather tell you honestly whether they'd pay off on your house than sell you something you don't need.
