Walton, Kentucky · Painting Contractor
NKY Home Service paints homes and businesses in Walton and across southern Boone County. The same background-checked crew that walks your house and writes your estimate is the crew that shows up on day one. No subcontractors, ever.
Walton is two kinds of house. There are the older frame homes around the original town, some of them a century old, with plaster walls, deep window casings and trim that has been painted so many times the profile has gone soft. And there are the newer subdivisions that went up as the town grew along the interstate, finished fast in builder-grade flat white over unsanded drywall.
They need opposite things. Old plaster needs cracks cut out and bedded properly, not skimmed over, and layered trim often needs cutting back before it will take a clean line again. New drywall needs the nail pops filled, the seams sanded, and a real primer on every patch so the finish coat does not flash.
We do both: whole-home repaints, single rooms, ceilings, trim and baseboards, doors, stairwells, basements and finished bonus rooms. Floors and furniture get masked before a brush comes out, and the site gets cleaned at the end of every day.
Southern Boone County is exposed in a way the rest of Northern Kentucky is not. Less tree cover, more open ground, and wind that comes across the fields all winter. South and west elevations here chalk and fade noticeably faster than they do on a sheltered Covington street.
On the older frame houses that means real exterior work: scraping back to sound material, priming bare wood, replacing failed caulk rather than painting over it, and repairing wood rot in sills and trim before anything goes on. On the newer builds it is usually trim, soffit and fascia, shutters, garage and front doors, porch posts and decks, plus vinyl siding where the color has gone flat.
We wash first, every time. It is the difference between a coat that lasts eight years and one that lifts in three.
Walton sits on one of the busiest freight corridors in the state, and a lot of the commercial work here is warehouse, light industrial and the small business strip through town rather than office suites. We paint shop and warehouse interiors, offices, retail units, restaurants and apartment turnovers.
The constraint is almost never the painting, it is working around your hours. We schedule evenings, weekends and phased sections so you stay open, and we keep the work area contained and signed while we are in it.
For landlords and property managers: unit turnovers on a fixed scope and a fixed date, which is usually what stands between a vacancy and a signed lease.
There are national franchises working this market and crews that will quote you cheap over the phone. Here is what is different about us.

"I highly recommend NKY Home Service! The toilet in my guest bathroom broke right before I was hosting a baby shower and Chris was able to fit me into his schedule and get it fixed. He was super nice and very affordable!"

"We contacted NKY Home Service to help us with a couple of touchup/patching spots on our walls. Our new home settled and there was a significant crack in the seam that couldn't be covered with paint alone. Chris, the friendliest person I've ever met, came and repaired the spots easily and quickly. He was timely and incredibly reasonable. I can't recommend this contractor enough."

It depends on square footage, ceiling height, how much prep the surfaces need and how many colors you want. An older frame house with bare wood and failed caulk takes far more prep than a ten-year-old build. We give you a free written estimate that itemizes the prep and the coats so you can see exactly what you are paying for, and we will tell you honestly if part of the job is not worth doing yet.
It can be. Homes built before 1978 may have lead paint under later coats, and disturbing it by scraping or sanding is what creates the risk. If your house is that age, say so when we come out and we will talk you through how it changes the prep, the containment and the cost before you commit to anything.
Yes, and on the newer Walton builds it is often the best value on the table. The siding has to be genuinely clean first, and the color has to be a vinyl-safe formulation so the panels do not absorb enough heat to warp. Inside that range there are still far more colour options than most people expect, and it is a fraction of the cost of replacing siding.
A single room is usually a day. A whole-home interior repaint typically runs three to five working days depending on size and how much trim is involved. Exterior work on an older frame house can run longer than a newer one because the prep is the real job. Your written estimate gives you a specific window, not a range we quietly extend later.
Late spring through early fall is the reliable window in Northern Kentucky. Modern exterior coatings will cure down to around 35F, but humidity and dew matter more here than temperature, and paint applied late on an August afternoon can still be wet when the dew falls. We schedule around the forecast rather than pushing a job into weather that will cost you the finish.
No. Not for overflow, not in the busy season, not ever. This is the single biggest difference between us and the franchise operations working this market, and it is the reason the quality is consistent from job to job. The person who quotes your house is on site doing the work.
Painting is what most people call us for first, but we handle the rest of the exterior maintenance too, which usually means one crew you already trust instead of four you have to vet.
